Workplace

Find your kind of workplace.

Use your interviews to learn how a team works, what it values and whether you can do your best work there.

01

Ask how work gets done

How does the team plan its week? Who makes decisions? Ask for a recent example of a project and how the team handled changes or setbacks.

02

Understand your manager’s expectations

Ask what success looks like in the first three months, how feedback is shared and how priorities are agreed. Clear examples are more useful than broad promises.

03

Explore flexibility in practice

Discuss working hours, office attendance, equipment and communication expectations. Ask how these arrangements work during busy periods and across different time zones.

04

Look for room to grow

Ask how people learn new skills, how development goals are set and what support is available. Find out whether there are opportunities to learn from colleagues.

05

Reflect before accepting

Write down what energised you, what remains unclear and which needs are essential. Follow up on unanswered questions and compare the opportunity against your own priorities.
